I purchased the game but it’s asking me to pay again

Download and billing-related problems should be raised directly with Google, as these concerns are unrelated to the game. Google is responsible for managing the Google Play Store apps’ sales and distribution.

However, we’re happy to share some troubleshooting steps that have been helpful to our players. Please refer to your exact situation.

“I purchased the game but I can’t download it. The Play Store game page tells me to purchase it again.”

Some of our players have reported success by clearing the Google Play Store’s cache and data files and then restarting their devices. After doing this, revisit the game’s store page, and you should be able to download it with no problems.

How to clear the Google Play Store’s cache and data files

  1. Open your device’s Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps & notifications > App info or See all apps.
  3. Tap Google Play Store
  4. Tap Storage > Clear Cache.
  5. Tap Clear storage/data > Clear all data > OK.

If that doesn’t resolve the issue, your purchase may have been unsuccessful. You can check your order status from the following page: Payments & Order Issues Troubleshooter.

“I got a new device and am getting told to purchase the game again.”

App purchases are tied to the Google account that was used to make the purchase, and not to the device. As long as you are using the same account on your device you should have no trouble installing a previously purchased game.

  1. Make sure that you are using the same Google account on your new device. It should be the account that originally purchased the item;
  2. Go to your app manager, find Google Play Store, clear Google Play Store’s storage and data files, and restart your device.

After following the above steps, you should be able to download and install the game directly from its store page.

How to clear the Google Play Store’s cache and data files

  1. Open your device’s Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps & notifications > App info or See all apps.
  3. Tap Google Play Store
  4. Tap Storage > Clear Cache.
  5. Tap Clear storage/data > Clear all data > OK.

If the issue persists, please use these Google Play Help articles to find another solution, or ultimately contact Google’s Support.
