What platforms is the game available on? Is it coming to other platforms in the future?

Ticket to Ride is available on Steam (PC), and will soon be available on Google Play, Apple App Store and Steam (Mac), featuring cross-platform compatibility!

We also aim to bring Ticket to Ride to consoles in the future.

What languages does the game support?

Ticket to Ride supports English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.

What’s the difference between this Ticket to Ride and the old version of the game?

This is a brand new re-imagining of the beloved board game with several new features and improvements:

  • Vibrant new visuals and 3D flourishes that bring the board game to life
  • Improved AI for a real challenge, and a wide range of personality types so that you can have the solo experience that suits you best
  • Customise your appearance and express yourself! Choose from a large cast of characters to represent you, and pick your preferred colour. For the first time, customise your trains by choosing a locomotive and carriage that everyone will see when you claim a route
  • Full cross-play across all platforms
  • A post-launch update will introduce Adventures, a meta-narrative with challenges to beat in order to advance the story and unlock rewards
  • Regular updates will add new features and expansions.

We’ll continue to work with the community to deliver compelling content, with the ultimate goal being to support every existing physical expansion, as well as brand new digitally exclusive expansions!

What maps does the game have?

The initial release includes the North America and Europe maps, with the Europe map being a DLC, and more maps planned for future updates.

What multiplayer options does the game have?

Our game supports a wealth of online multiplayer options. Choose whether to play with friends or with random players, and choose the speed of game that suits you best. From a highly competitive game that can be completed in 15 minutes, to a more relaxed one that can be completed at your own pace, over days, with push notifications alerting you when it is your turn.

Local Multiplayer is not available at this time.

Are there in-app purchases?

Yes, expansions and cosmetics can be purchased within the game.

If I purchase in-app content on one platform, can I access it on another?

Yes, in-game content purchased on one platform will be available on other platforms, as long as you are logged into the same Bubble account on both devices.

Can I share in-app content with my family members?

It depends on the platform you are using, as each platform comes with its own set of rules and guidelines. For this reason, we highly recommend that you take the time to read up on the relevant platform’s guidelines before purchasing in-app content with the intent to share it with your family members.

On Steam, you can share in-app content with members of your Family Library group, but you’re prevented from playing the game at the same time. For more information, please visit this page.

Can other players play in maps they don’t own via host-sharing?

Unfortunately, no. All players will need to own the same map in order to play together.

However, please keep in mind that you will need to purchase the base game separately on both platforms.

Can I pause or rejoin matches? Is the game asynchronous?

For games with shorter timers, you’re expected to finish the game in a single session (typically an hour or less) – you’ll be able to rejoin the game if you’re disconnected or have to briefly suspend the game, but if you take too long then you’ll be replaced by an AI, so as not to disrupt the other players too much.

The game also supports asynchronous games with much longer timers, so that games can be played over multiple sessions. In this mode, each player is alerted by notification when it’s their turn, which they can take at their leisure when they have the time. These games can potentially take days to complete, or even up to a month if playing without timers.

How long does a game last?

Ticket to Ride game can be played in a range of modes and speeds. But, to be more specific, a game can be completed in a time frame that ranges from around 15 minutes to several days, according to your specified speed preferences.

Can I play the game offline?

Yes, but only in the Single Player Mode, against AI players. Currently, Ticket to Ride doesn’t support Local Multiplayer/ Play&Pass, so all the multiplayer options require an internet connection.

Ticket to Ride: Classic Edition

What is the sunset plan for Ticket to Ride: Classic Edition?

Marmalade Game Studio is solely responsible for the new Ticket to Ride video game. Any inquiries or concerns regarding the sunset plans for the classic edition should be directed to its developer – Twin Sails – via their support page.

I have the old Ticket to Ride game. Can I transfer my expansion purchases from the old game to the new game?

Unfortunately, no. Expansions will have to be purchased again in the new game.

Can I get a discount on the new game if I own the old game?

No, but you can claim an exclusive reward. We’ve been working closely with our community to better understand your needs, and as part of our appreciation for your support, we have decided to offer the Europe map as a gift to all players who own Ticket to Ride: Classic Edition. We’ve made this decision independently, with the sole intention of giving back and showing our commitment to the community.

Can I transfer my friends from the old game to the new Ticket to Ride?

Unfortunately, no. The new game uses Marmalade’s Bubble platform for social features, while the previous version of the game used Asmodee.net. You’ll need to sign up to Bubble and add your friends again using this new platform.

Does the new Ticket to Ride come with all the same expansions as the previous version?

Our aim is to eventually support all of the most popular Ticket to Ride expansions. Join the community to help us decide what to add next!
